Movies of Different Genres and Time Periods

Tim Burton’s “Corpse Bride”, Walt Disney’s “James and the Giant Peach”, Mel Damski’s “Murder by the Book”, and Sean Mathias “Bent” with Clive Owen.

Corpse Bride

What a outstanding little musical. I was not under the impression that there was going to be singing and scores of music in this. The Piano pieces are to die for no pun intended. This is a black comedy to say the least about the way of life for youngsters in love back then. 5 stars

James and the Giant Peach

The Oscar was well deserved for best musical score and a delightful movie at that. For Walt Disney it almost seems they are out of ideas so they are throwing anything out there and hoping that it will be a hit. The level of work behind this movie seems immense from the different forms of animation to sound itself.

Murder by the Book

This may sound good, but don’t waste your time. It not entirely their fault its really the way the screenplay was written. It does not know its own genre. Comedy? Thriller? Drama? the movie constantly questions itself forget about reviewers questioning it. I am usually lenient with ratings and reviews but when needed criticism and recognition will be given.

Bent

Outstanding performance here by Clive Owen here! Impressive to say the least that he is always willing to play anyone, anywhere, at anytime. This movie and play brings the horrific terrors that homosexuals had to face as well during WWII but as well as how common it was to be gay even back then and how hard it was to keep it hidden. All in all the main character eventually shows the audience hiding your identity really is not worth the pain and suffering of yourself and others around you.
