Movie Review: The Taking of Pelham 123
Review of the new Washington/Travolta movie.
I completely enjoyed this movie. Before I go into the details of why, I’ll first state the obvious. John Travolta and Denzel Washington are two of Hollywood’s sexiest men . . . how could one not enjoy the film? Beyond that obvious though, there were a few other things that made this movie a must see film in my book.
The movie touches on the idea of innocence. Ryder (Travolta’s character) says a line something like “a true Catholic knows there are no innocents” in reference to Garber’s (Washington) plea to let the innocent passangers on the train go free. I liked this inference in the movie because of its truth. None of us are without sin, we are all guilty of something.
The movie tied in references to our current financial crisis and sent a reminder that one small thing can tip the scales.
It is not something that is too difficult to understand. Usually it is the greed of those with knowledge that manipulate the factors of our financial standing to benefit their needs. This bears remembering on a daily basis.
Travolta is just such a good bad guy!
The dialogue is what grabs you and holds your attention, not the violence.
Washington is such a great good guy (especially when flawed)
