Synopsis: After quitting his job to write a novel, a man moves into a country home with his family only to discover a gruesome murder occurred there 5 years earlier and the killer might have returned.
Who’s in it? Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts.
What I liked about this movie: Films like this one tend to be a bit predictable and almost always have the same ending; someone in the house has a split personality. I don’t want to go into too much detail but, just when I thought this movie was going to go down that same path; it managed to throw in a few twists that kept it from being like every other film I’ve ever seen.
I think the best part of this movie is you never know for certain who was behind the murders. More importantly, the film keeps the answer to that a surprise until the very end and, quite honestly, even though I was right about who was behind them, I wasn’t even close to guessing the reason.
What I didn’t like about this movie: I thought the ending was dragged out a bit too much. As I said before, this was a film that had plenty of twists. But, once they were used up, the last few minutes did become somewhat predictable and, as a result, I think they could have gotten away with shortening it considerably.
Final Opinion: I was a bit surprised when I got this movie through Netflix (I had several others ahead of it on my list). But, I was not disappointed by it and would definitely recommend it.
My Grade: 4 stars out of a possible 5.
