Not many movies that I have seen can compare to the greatness of Avatar by James Cameron. Dispite a very low budget, Cameron managed to create a movie that appeals to all audiances. The special effects are amazing, from soaring high in a Banshee, to attacking a flying gunship. There is some profanity used, such as “oh sh*t” or “you’re not the only one with guns bi3ch”, which are unfortunatly used frequently in the movie.
Avatar takes place on a world called Pandora, where humans are trying to mine a rare ore that is abundant on the planet and worth millions. Unfortunatly, the indeginous species, primiative human like people called Na’vi live in a large tree that grows above the largest deposit of ore. Due to human arrogance and greed, the Na’vi have grown to distrust the humans that have invaded their world and are cutting down their forests. In oan attempt to form peaceful relations with the natives, the humans grow Na’vi bodies from human DNA and Na’vi DNA and the bodies are controlled by humans that sit in some kind of pod. These artificial Na’vi bodies are called Avatars. I won’t go into detail about the movie after this point because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone.
Fortunatly, there is some, but very littly profanity, most of which are uttered so low that a only a person that watches movies too much (me) can hear them. The phisics of Pandora is the last issue I have found in the movie. In the beginning of the movie, the Human captain tells the new mareens that the Na’vi have a tough bone structure. However, later, when the main character meets the captain in person, the captain says that there is low gravity. Well, if there is low gravity, then how can an animal have a tough bone structure? In a low gravity enviornment, an animal will naturally have a lighter bone structure because the need to support ones weight is decreased. This movie alsois slightly similar to Surrogates , as humans controle a body that moves while its controller sits in a pod and controlles it. However, the main differences are: 1) Unlike in Surrogates, in Avatar, the controller’s mind is transfered into their Na’vi body, the pod’s purpouse is to house the body of the controller. 2) In avatar, the protagonist forces are fighting for something.
In my opinion, WATCH THIS MOVIE, IT IS WORTH IT. A++++ James Cameron, well done, another masterpiece, may you make trillions.
