Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried: Lesbians?

Now I’ve been looking forward to this movie for three different reasons.  Reason number one, I enjoy a good horror movie, or that trying to be, especially one about demons. (You don’t have enough of those these days), and second, I’ve been looking forward to this movie because it was written by one Diablo Cody.  You might remember her from winning an Oscar for Juno.  And third, Megan Fox covered in blood? Well, there’s a no-brainer.  So when I went into this film this past Saturday night, I wasn’t looking for hamburger phones, but I was sure I would get some new “lingo” from “Jennifer’s Body”.  Diablo has a way of writing her characters in with their own distinct language, that some would find either annoying or very catchy. And this movie does have alot of “quotes” and catch-phrases that I’m sure will catch on with the teenage youth.

Let’s get down to the point. “Jennifer’s Body” is about two best friends Needy and Jennifer (Seyfried and Fox) that find themselves at a bar, on a school night, listening to a band only one person in their town has heard of.  You soon find that the band members are only interested in Jennifer for one thing (and no, it’s not sex). They need a “virgin” to sacrifice later that night in order for them to become a more popular rock band. So, they kidnap, sacrifice her and go on about their way. What they don’t know is that if you sacrifice a non-virgin, aka Jennifer, you end up with a blood thirsty demon inhabiting her body. So that’s how our story goes on. Jennifer returns and has a hunger she can’t control so she begins to feed on boys. Well, and tries with one girl. As Jennifer says, “I go both ways..”

Now these two girls in the film, Amanda Seyfriend and Megan Fox have this chemisty together that just ignites the screen when they’re on it.  Like physical, and sexual, and just tense when they’re talking and looking at each other. But their connection finally has the audience screaming in one scene where they finally give into the tension for about three minutes of the film. (Be sure to watch it, if not for the writing, but for this.)

I’d hate to say this about the movie, but they do make the mistake of allowing all the male characters in the movie becoming completely annoying and idiotic.  You almost don’t care that Jennifer eats them. The movie would be better without them. They have no emotions or cares it seems, except for sex in the long run. And I guess that’s what they get for thinking with the wrong head!

So, I give “Jennifer’s Body” 3 1/2 out of 5 stars for an attempt at a good demon movie. The gore and special effects are very real and awesome, and I’m glad that I did go see it still. Megan Fox was amazing as Jennifer, and I’m sure she’ll have more roles in her future. And Amanda Seyfried is the best friend any girl can have as “Needy”, and she’s becoming a more household name as we speak! So everyone go out, check out the movie, if not at night (in the box office) atleast. Save you a few bucks with a matinee show, get you some popcorn, sneak in some candy, and please, enjoy the show!
