Not everyone knows who Mae West is. If you’re not from "my time", you’d not know that she’s the American actress who not only "walks" sexy, but "talks" sexy as well.

Not everyone knows who Mae West is. If you’re not from “my time”, you’d not know that she’s the American actress who not only “walks” sexy, but “talks” sexy as well.
Well, actually, she’s more from my parents’ time, but being a family of movie goers (those days, we don’t have TV in our midst), I am wholly immersed in Hollywood ‘cos my dad would always take us to the local cinema to catch a movie on a weekly basis. Another reason for this luxury was because my grandfather was working for “Shaw Brothers” (Hongkong movie bigwigs) at the time, and we get to see the movies FOC (free of charge)!!
Back in those days, we’re not easily influenced by what we see in the movies. Unlike nowadays, everything “bad” is attributed to influences from the movies, TV, music, blah-blah-blah!! Don’t people realise that if you have a good upbringing, being taught what’s right and wrong by your parents, teachers and any other influential figures, you won’t end up being a psychotic killer or sex fiend??
Most movies and the like are meant for “entertainment”, not education on the road to reality. I’m sure our minds know the difference!! I used to play with toy swords and guns with my brother when we were growing up. That doesn’t make me a violent person today ‘cos I was taught enough “moral” values by my mom and dad to know the difference. And, obviously, I knew they were just “toys”!!
Reason I’ve gone off track is because I feel that there’s been too much blame being placed on this form of media (movies, etc etc). But, that’s a different subject altogether. So, let’s get back on track. About Ms West…
During her hey-days, Mae West was notable for a large number of quips, some with regards to herself and others to the characters she played. A notable Mae West quip was “Is that a pistol in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?” Another famous one was “When I’m good, I’m very good. When I’m bad, I’m better”, both hinting at a slightly disreputable meaning.
