LA Dog Pile
He stared me up and down for like ten minutes
The PA next to me coughed aloud as if to remind the director that he was making everyone uncomfortable
I didn’t know what to do
He just kept doing it and then he asked me which boat I just got off of
I told him I was from North Carolina
He told me I should have stayed there
More work for non-union actors there
What did you say then, I asked
I didn’t say anything. He just stared at my legs and hips and breasts.
I don’t know what I was expecting.
Maybe for her to have a little more backbone.
But that’s LA and she’s living the life.
Daddy scooted her to the head of the line with favors and handshakes.
But even the head of the line is still the bottom of the dog pile.
I imagine what she didn’t say Is what she did.
And I didn’t ask.
Because it’s LA and if you don’t fight, you might as well give the man a blowjob.
