Knowing : Movie Review

Movie Review of a definite must see movie for those looking for a good suspense thriller, that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat.

Very stunning and stylized doomsday portrayal that greatly rises above prior spinning out of control captivations. Director, Alex Proyas, does a wondrous job at unnerving and mystifying audiences.

Nicolas Cage plays the part as a frazzled MIT astrophysics Professor, Koestler. Recently widowed, hitting the booze too hard, and with a son Caleb (Chandler Canterbury) he’s left to raise singlehandedly, Koestler is the sort of internalized professor who is asked by his students what his view of why things happen in the world responded by “I think shit just happens.”

Fifty years ago, students at Caleb’s school, buried a time capsule full of letters of ideas of what the future would be like. The boy seems to come under a spell of a note laden with numbers scribbled by a distraught young girl half a century ago. After bringing the letter home, mysterious strangers start showing up, handing Caleb pebbles.

One night, the dad eventually figures out that the numbers have some terrifying connection to both the past and future horrific events. He joins forces with the grown daughter (Rose Byrne) of the now deceased distraught schoolgirl from fifty years ago. Cage is in a race with time to save the world from destruction.

Knowing features striking craftsmanship teeming with nightmarish imagery that effectively takes your breath away.  This is a definite must see for those looking for a good suspense thriller, that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat.
