Japanese Animation: The Borrower Arrietty

The Borrower Arrietty is a fantasy family animation drama produced by Japanese animation studio, Studio Ghibli and it’s a popular choice among viewers who download movies online. Studio Ghibli has produced movies that have won various awards in different nations across the world.

Japanese animation drama family films and Japanese animation design are popular in many parts of the world and persons who download movies online like fantasy family films which use Japanese animation. Japanese animation drama is an important product of Japan and the Japanese government nurtures the talent of young illustrators in different ways. Some designers work in fields related to fantasy animation design, such as video game design.

Japanese animation and fantasy art is big in the cartoon industry. Fantasy animation art produced in Japan is commonly referred to as anime or manga and is popular with both children and adults.Family manga movies receiving top ranking among manga fans, according to Amazon’s Listmania, are Grave of the Fireflies, Ghost in the Shell, Akira and Princess Mononoke.

The Borrower Arrietty is a Japanese animated movie about a family. It’s a family fantasy drama in which ‘tiny’ people who borrow things from ‘big’ people. The ‘tiny’ people live in the homes of the ‘big’ people. The borrowing goes on without the ‘big’ people realizing that there are ‘tiny’ fantasy people living under the floorboards who are taking things from them.

Arrietty is a 14 year old girl who is a Borrower. She is a member of the Clock family. When a human boy from a human family discovers them, life changes for the Borrowers. This Japanese animation drama is based on the series of children’s fantasy novels written by Mary Norton. Through the Japanese animated film, the magical fantasy world first created in the novels is brought to a new audience.

The Borrower Arrietty was produced by Japanese animation studio, Studio Ghibli. Studio Ghibli has produced Japanese animated movies that have won various awards in different nations across the world. Some of the awards received by Japanese animation produced at Studio Ghibli include the Golden Bear and the Academy Award.

From July to October of 2010, an exhibition on the amazing art used to create the world of The Borrower Arrietty will be on display in Tokyo, Japan.

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo will host the exhibition, which will feature the work of the well known Japanese artistic director, Yohei Tamada. Yohei Tamada has produced many outstanding movie sets. He has worked with Quentin Tarantino in producing Kill Bill Vol. 1 and also created the movie set for ‘The Magic Hour’.

The exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo will provide a unique opportunity for visitors to see and enjoy the art used to create the movie set of The Borrower Arrietty.

    I’m glad you found it interesting.
    Japanese people are always amazed when I say that Japanese animation is popular among children and some adults as far away as in Jamaica.
    Some of the first Japanese animation was done from as early as 1917.

    I read some childrenĀ“s books while studying English, and one of them was “The borrowers” – It would be interesting to see the animation movie about Arrietty.. :)
