James Cameron, the director of Avatar lost the game of Oscar to his ex wife Kathryn Bigelow. Almost 12 years back, James Cameron declared him the King of the World after winning the Oscar for Titanic as best film.
James Cameron this year did not left the Oscars empty handed as well because his movie “Avatar” won more than one Oscar awards “Best Art Direction”, “Best Cinematography” and Best Virtual Effects, however the Director himself was unable to secure an Oscar for his movie.
This year the Best Movie of the year Oscar award has been won by James Cameron’s ex wife Kathryn Bigelow for her film The Hurt Locker.
This is year he wasn’t too far behind winning the best film award for the expensive and hit movie Avatar. James Cameron won the Golden Globe award for the 3D blockbuster movie Avatar last year but last night wasn’t great for Avatar or James Cameron. It was largely expected that Avatar will be the movie to win the 82nd Academy Awards but it never happened.
Kathryn Bigelow, ex wife of James Cameron and the director of low cost movie based on Iraq war won the Oscar for best movie along with other six Oscars for different nominations.
Kathryn Bigelow also becomes the first woman director to won the Oscar in the history of Academy awards.
Avatar and The Hurt Locker, both movies were nominated for nine nominations each but the Iraq war based movie made the impact as the best out of year’s lot and won the maximum Oscars 2010. Avatar managed to win three Oscars in different nominations.
