Indiana Jones Raiders of the lost Ark (1981)

An adventure film by Steven Spielberg

Marked 6 out of 10

This is an Indiana Jones Adventure film, based around the Ark of the Covenant written about in the Bible. It is a 1981 film, definitely something to keep in mind before choosing to watch this. The story starts at the end of an expedition into South America, where Indy just manages to escape out of a maze full of traps and a lucky airborne rescue that follows.

Then the story develops towards Egypt, where the Nazi’s are trying to locate the Ark of the Covenant written about in the Bible, which is holy and therefore would give the owner endless powers. Hence there are quite a few parties involved in the search for the Ark. Luckily Indy has an old female friend who possesses an ‘amulet’ that will point directly towards the location of the Ark, if used properly. After some struggles Indiana manages to bring the amulet, together with his friend, to the right spot in Egypt where it will reveal it’s secrets. Also then, a full array of spectacular chases follow, moving from airplane to truck to car to boat to submarine, to a deserted island. Everything is possible with Indiana Jones.

As the film is slightly dated, some conversations and some of the chases even, can get slightly predictable and lengthy, but still provide for some joke-filled entertainment. Mixed with a little bit of Biblical history, the depiction of the Ark, when it finally does go into action, is certainly interesting and might be the main reason for watching this film..
