Horror Remakes: The Good, The Bad and The Pointless

Remakes seem to have taken over the theatres. Numerous ones have been released with countless more on the way. Studios see them as a sure thing and make them in an effort to cash in on the original. Some though are made for the right reasons and stand out.

The Good: The best remakes are the ones the re-imagine the original source material in new and interesting ways.

Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Thing, The Fly, Hills Have Eyes, My Bloody Valentine 3D, Halloween, Village of the Damned, House On Haunted Hill, 13 Ghosts, 2001 Maniacs

The Bad: These fail for numerous reasons. In most instances they stray too far from the original or make decisions that make no sense whatsoever.

The Wicker Man, Day of the Dead, The Amityville Horror, The Hitcher, House of Wax, Planet of the Apes, Wizard of Gore

The Pointless: Have no reason for existing. Shot for shot remakes of the original & PG-13 trash fall into this category.

The Fog, Prom Night, Psycho, Funny Games, The Ring, The Grudge
