Hes Just Not That Into You
A movie all girls should see because there is wisdom to be learned. Boys, the secret is out.
If a guys wants to find you, trust me he will. Apart from the twists and the amazing quotes and the rule/exception debate, this is the main secret that apparently girls have never seemed to grasp. Like the movie explains right at the beginning, “Girls are taught a lot of stuff growing up. If a guy punches you he likes you”, i wouldn’t go as far as that, but apparently, some things seem to be common. Girls like the bad boys. true fact, mainly because all girls want to turn the bad boy into their own prince charming. Its like this big life reward that somehow has been drilled into their brain, its their task to change the bad boys, and then dump them because no one likes the good guys. Bad boys are just that. They are mysterious, sometimes quiet and interesting. And hard to get.
And we all know that what’s hard to get feels a lot better when you get it.
As usual, you can’t help but feel torn, some things are so true that its hard to swallow all that information, and somehow, something in the back of your head just keeps screaming “yeah, that sounds right but still…”.
And there you have it. The more you take in the concept the more you want to be the rule. Or the exception, depending on where you are standing.
I digged through my life and my friends lives to analyse where some of the rules applied, and some actually do, it is safer to walk away from a guy that doesn’t call back, that doesn’t show interest and acts all cool about it. Sure, no one wants a guy that is just needy all the time but there lies the difference. When you love someone, there is no “needy”, you just can’t stop thinking about that someone, all the time, all day long. And if that clouds your judgement and the flame burns just as fast as it sparkled so be it. Maybe that’s how its meant to be. Do you want to walk away and think you should have given more of yourself?
Enter a quote.
Gigi: I would rather be like that, then be like you.
Alex: Excuse me? What’s that supposed to mean?
Gigi: I may dissect each little thing and put myself out there so much but at least that means that I still care. Oh! You’ve think you won because women are expendable to you. You may not get hurt or make an ass of yourself that way but you don’t fall in love that way either. You have not won. You’re alone. I may do a lot of stupid shit but I’m still a lot closer to love than you are”

This movie is still a chick flick, there is a happy ending, like in real life. Don’t go trashing the movie just because there is a happy ending, is there not such a thing in real life? There are broken hearts, misunderstandings and many emotions that confuse, control and conquer the lives of everyone involved. And laughter.
There are golden rules to be learned, which when said they sort of have that feeling of sand on a dry mouth. It’s so obvious that its amazing that no one has thought of it before, well maybe it has been thought off but no said it out loud for all ears to hear.
“If a guy treats you like he doesn’t give a shit, it’s because he doesn’t give a shit” – Its not a bad thing, its just how guys role. True, some may act interested because they’d rather loose and arm than be rude to a girl but i guess that’s half the fun in playing the game. Know the rules, then bend them.
I believe its a good movie for single people mostly, mostly girls also because i know some of them will understand a lot of past actions when the credits roll. Because it the end, all that matters is that you be happy, that you find that special someone and you learn some of the tips so you don’t lose any time with guys who are wasting your time.
As for actors performance, i usually avoid saying anything about that, my reviews are not based on that, its not my job to cast (although i wouldn’t mind that would be my real job) and i’d rather talk about the feelings involved in said movie.
Also, in the era on the internet, you just click Imdb and you know all about who’s playing who and whats the movie about so id rather leave that to who does it better and stay in my place talking about what i know best.
Relationships.
And this movie is all about that, how certain rules are made up and followed through in a desperate attempt to make some meaning out of life. And then watch all the rules crumble when life shows you who is in charge. For real. You will be laughing in embarrasment as soon as the movie starts.
Go and learn some new tricks, there’s nothing wrong in trying them out and seeing if they actually work.
All the best, Phie
