Good Hair Movie

I saw the movie documentary good hair, and it really explores where African Americans and their obsession with hair stands.

This was a very good documentary featuring Chris Rock. Rock went to the Black Mecca’s for hair and explored everything from the source to the price. He left no stones unturned as he began in India where the Hindus go the temple and shave their heads bald as a humble sacrifice to their pagan god. From there the hair is collected for pennies, and its off to the USA  ghettos to be sold. I was stunned when I found out that the Korean merchants controlled the retail of the market, and would not sale whole sale to black merchants. The hair can sell as high as 3500 dollars. Hair stylist made claims that their customers would sacrifice rent to get their hair done. There was even footage shot at the black hair convention in Atlanta. There was quite a bit of homosexual men who were the top hairstylists at the convention, and most of the products that were on display were not manufactured by black companies. There is  heavy economics going on in the black hair market, and the movie left me with the impression that blacks are not getting the share they should. This time in history we have X’ed ourselves out and have no one to blame for feeding our appetite, and not recycling black dollars. We know better and can do a much better job at recycling black dollars. On a scale of 1 – 10, I give the movie a 7. I could have waited for this one on video, but I still give it a thumbs up rating.

Lol, black hair could worth 3500$? I would love to sell mine if it’s worth that lot. The movie also sounds interesting, I’m going to watch it soon. Thanks for sharing!
