Film: The Top Money Making Movie of All Time

There has been a multitude of blockbuster movies that have made a stack of money over the years but which one made the most cash of all?

You guessed it right. Who could go past big blue aliens riding dragons?

Avatar’s release in December 2009 was a monumental event in film history as it made mega bucks at the box office in what seemed like no time at all. It overtook another of James Cameron’s blockbusters as the top money making movie of all time in the form of Titanic ($1,848,813,795).

In Avatar’s opening weekend it grossed an amazing $232,180,000 and $77,025,481 on its opening day in the US and Canada alone making it the second biggest earner on an opening day after “I Am Legend” ($77,211,321 ). It became the first film to cross the two billion dollar gross earnings mark and the fastest to reach the one billion dollar mark (17 days). At the conclusion of its worldwide release Avatar had grossed an amazing $2,766,046,139.
