Ewan Mcgregor Movies: 10 Films Featured and Only One Recommended
This article is a different tribute to Ewan McGregor and his movies by a non-fan.
Ewan McGregor is considered to be one of the sexiest and talented actors of his generation. The problem is, he seems to be picking his movies so that I would have an awful time watching them…
While I know Ewan McGregor couldn’t have cared less about my disdain towards his movies, I am finding it odd that I don’t like his movies. Because he usually pairs up with an actor whose work I follow, or something. I do have a habit of choosing movies according to actors. But I watch his movies despite him:
*Star Wars: OK, this has more to do with the fact that I am a girl and I belong to the group of women who won’t understand what the fuss is all about.
*Moulin Rouge

Nicole Kidman is an actress I really like and admire. But the post-modern, let’s combine period movies with contemporary stuff and get a mess- style of director Baz Luhrman really isn’t for me. I was bored to tears with both Romeo and Juliet (starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Claire Danes) and Moulin Rouge starring McGregor and Kidman.
*Deception: So what? What was the point? I had expected the movie to be intriguing, at the very least. After all its starring actor is Hugh Jackman.But hey, as much as I enjoy Jackman’s films, I should have known better. I can’t help it. I started to associate boredom with Ewan.
*Velvet Goldmine:

I have nothing against Christian Bale and I absolutely love Jonathan Rhys Meyers. But this movie? I thought I would love the movie. I mean it had great actors and it was suppose to provide all the glam and mayhem sex, drugs and rock n’roll were supposed to provide. It wasn’t fun and it wasn’t glamorous. Sexual abuse in a family, distorted personalities, closeted sexual preferences…Hello??? Where is the fun??? Yes, Ewan is starring here.
*Down with Love:

A romantic comedy that really bored me. And I am the target audience, right? I also happen to like Renée Zellweger.
* Angels and Demons:

Dan Brown’s books are awesome but the movie didn’t live up to the book. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted to love the movie, but hey ,it just didn’t have the same magic on the screen. It is not Ewan’s fault though. The Robert Langdon in my head had nothing to do with Tom Hanks.
*Eye of the Beholder: Very, very slow film about a male detective obsessed with a female serial killer who does kill men. Interesting premise. It even has Ashley Judd as a literal femme fatale. Problem? The movie drags on.
* Incendiary:

This was the last straw. Why Ewan McGregor loves explicit sex scenes- scenes that truly deserve the word shagging, or worse-, I will never know. I have seen more of Ewan than I would ever want to see and the problem is, his nudeness or sex scenes do not add to the plot of his movies, but take away from it. So how are we supposed to be involved in the drama of a young mother&wife (Michelle Williams)whose husband and son die during a terrorist bombing at a stadium- right at the moment we are exposed to a naked Ewan shagging Michelle. Yeah, very, very deep moment indeed. The worst part is, I really wanted to like the movie because Matthew Macfadyen was there. Shame.
* I love you Philip Morris- awful, awful, awful. I detail how awful it is in my I love you Philip Morris review.
9 movies I don’t like. Well, 11 if you include all three Starwars. I just remember one movie of his that I truly liked. Which belongs to Tim Burton and it is called Big Fish. While Tim’s movies aren’t exactly my cup of tea, this movie is one sweetheart that you can watch with people from all generations and enjoy it. It is creative, lovely and original. It also comes with a cast that includes Billy Crudup, and Albert Finney.
I am excited and hopeful about The Ghost Rider. While I don’t really like Roman Polanski, it features Pierce Brosnan and the guy is yet to make a movie I didn’t have at least a little fun watching. Fingers crossed. There might be a second McGregor movie to enjoy.

How about the man who stare at goats? I likd him because he is a cute british lol.
Ha ha. I should watch that. Jeff Bridges is there. But the problem is, apart from Big Fish, I got burnt every time I saw an Ewan movie because I had a favorite actor in there as well:D I forgot to put the movie his movie with Cameron Diaz too. That wasn’t so fun either:D
Excellent manner and very well-written sentence is doing, with useful information includes a good things you have in your article.
Thanks and cheers.

Distorted personalities, overdone, mostly distort the show.This is rampant in tv serials here.I enjoyed reading your review, made good points.
I haven’t seen ” Angels and Demons”, yet but I want to, my favorite movie of his is ” Star Wars.”
I didn’t see any of these movies. Don’t get out like I use to. But didn’t Christian Bale play Batman? I got the tape from the public library. He did a bang up job in that role and that movie.
@ wonder: thanks:)
@Mace: Did you see The Da Vinci Code? I think you should see it first.
But I have to say the movies probably will look better if you haven’t
read the books.
@Guy: Yep, Christian is the new batman. And he is good. Problem is,
Christopher Nolan-the director-focuses more on the dark and I
love more entertainment. So I am more Iron Man type of gal;)
Great work. Trainspotting and Shallow Grave are my favourites, and did you see his debut in Lipstick on Your Collar?
you are really good, many watch movies but can write such good review like you do. Good job Zoey.
typo error, i mean many “can’t write”..
@ MJ: No, I haven’t. Thanks for reminding me. I am afraid of Transpotting though. Sounds too depressing.
@Starpiscesİ thank you, starpisces. I appreciate it:))
