Dean Koontz’s Intensity
My review of the movie based on Dean Koontz’s novel, Intensity.
Intensity is a novel written by the popular author, Dean Koontz. In 1997 a movie based on this novel was released. John C. McGinley (known for his role as Dr. Cox on Scrubs) plays the killer, Edgar (pronounced “Edger”) Vess, and he does a brilliant job! He did a very good job at portraying the craziness and dangerousness of the role he was given. Molly Parker plays a stunning heorine, Chyna Shepherd, in the story.
The story follows a young pyschology major who witnesses her friends entire family brutally killed by a home intruder (who does not know of she’s there). Events lead to her sneaking into his RV and being trapped in there until he stops for gas. She witnesses two more murders, discovers the man is holding a young girl in his basement, and decides she is the only girls chance. She steals a car from the gas station and follows the killer. The Killer eventually gets her and traps her in his home, intrigued by her. Now Chyna has to save her and the young girl, Ariel, before Edgar gets home from work!
This entire movie takes place in a 24 hour time frame, and it’s jammed pack with action and suspense! Although the movie keeps everything the book had, it also adds some characters and events. I don’t think all of these additions were necessary, but they didn’t ruin the movie for me.
If you read the book, and enjoyed it, you’ll enjoy this movie. And if you haven’t read the book, do it, and then see the movie! The movie is not available on DVD right now, but people are trying to change that. For now you can wait for it to come on TV, or you can watch it online at Dailymotion.com.There is no downloading for this site, and it’s totally legal.
