A multi-talented star is on the rise – and fast. Rebecca da Costa is an international actress/model who also shares the passion for dancing and hosting. She started out with small roles, playing waitress on an American independent film, the Treasure of the Black Jaguar. Directed by Chris Morrissey, the film won the Best Horror Film and Audience Award at the 2010 New York International Film Festival.
Early 2011, Rebecca da Costa starred as Natasha in ‘L.A., I Hate You’, a thriller film directed by Yvan Gauthier. Filmed in Los Angeles, ‘L.A., I Hate You’ is a unique story of sex, violence, redemption and murder, all linked into one film. Featuring the darker secrets of the city, and in fact inspired by true stories, da Costa’s role showed what L.A. seduction is all about.
Her latest project is playing Chelsea in Freerunner. The film, which premiered in the March at the Cannes Film Festival, is directed by Lawrence Silverstein. The story is about a group of athletes that were kidnapped and fitted with explosives, forced to run on a televised contest ran by the sadistic Mr. Frank, in order to save their lives. Quite different from her previous roles, as Freerunner is action-filled, Rebecca da Costa’s versatility once again steps up.
More projects are expected from this rising star in 2011 and in the years ahead. She is quickly grabbing viewer’s attention. Taking the huge leap from modeling to acting proved to be the right course for this daring woman’s career choices. Her popularity is looking very impressive, and with more promises ahead. With the talents she posses, her willingness to take in new characters, and her flair for dancing, particularly in Salsa and Hip Hop, we might even see more surprising roles on her next appearance.
