Box Office Results 2

Did Tyler Perry’s “I Can Do Bad All By Myself” stay in the top spot? Is there a new number one movie? You can find out in this edition of box office results.

The box office results are in Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself didn’t hold on to the number one spot at the box office.  It slipped to number three at the box office.  The movie made over $9 million.  Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself lost about 57 percent of its audience.  The movie has made over $37 million since its debut.  It’s normal for a Tyler Perry movie to lose money at the box office.  His movies usually debut at number one and then they drop quite a bit so that didn’t surprise me at all.  I’m still going to try and check this out when I get the chance.  I have seen all of Tyler Perry’s movies and I enjoyed them.

The results are in for the number one movie at the box office.  Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs came in at number one at the box office with over $30 million.  It’s a 3-D animated family comedy adapted from the popular 1978 children’s book by Judi and Ron Barrett.  I have never heard of this book and I didn’t really hear much about this movie.  Animated movies tend to do well at the box office.  The movie would have to be pretty bad not to debut at the top of the box office.

There were a few other debuts in the top 10 as well.  The Informant starring Matt Damon came in at number 2 with over $10 million.  This is a movie about a bipolar whistle blower.  It looks like it could be a spy movie to me.  It also looks like it would be a comedy so maybe it is a combination of the two genres.

The other two releases in the top 10 didn’t fare too well.  Love Happens starring Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart opened with so-so numbers.  The movie made $8 million at the box office.  Love Happens is about a widower who writes a best-selling book and falls in love with a woman who attends his seminar.  It is a romantic comedy.  This is usually Jennifer Aniston’s area of movies, but she didn’t pull this one off.  Is Jennifer losing her appeal at the box office?  Ordinarily one of her movies in this genre would have done better than this.

The biggest disaster at the box office was Jennifer’s Body starring Megan Fox.  It made over $6 million.  It is a horror movie about a girl taking over the body of another girl or something like that.  The powers that be spent so much time hyping up Megan Fox, that it’s hard to know what this movie is about.  They also forgot about the rest of the cast in the movie.  Their only focus was to attract boys who find Megan Fox attractive.  I guess they didn’t have too much faith in the movie itself or there wouldn’t have been a need to promote Megan so much.  This was a chance for her to prove that she can carry a movie without Transformers being in the title, but she couldn’t do it.  I guess she better sit back and wait for the next sequel to Transformers.

My prediction for next week’s box office results is that Fame will take the number one spot.  The movie is being overhyped so it’s likely that it will debut at number one.

Here are the top 10 movies for the week:

  1. *Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs – 30.3 million
  2. *The Informant – 10.4 million
  3. Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself – 9.8 million
  4. *Love Happens – 8 million
  5. *Jennifer’s Body – 6.8 million
  6. 9 – 5.5 million
  7. Inglorious Basterds – 3.8 million

  9. Sorority Row – 2.4 million

A friend of mine insisted on watching one of Tyler Perry’s movies one night, it was awful, I like him but his movies I can do without.
I’d like to hear what you think about Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs if you get a chance to see it.

Very nice review. I thought The Final Destination would be on the first place, but it’s not. There are so much new movies reach the top, I’m gonna have to visit a cinema after this. Thanks for sharing!

Final Destination and Jenefer’s Body were poor movies, but I did enjoy Perry’s movie somewhat, although he wrapped that ending up so fast my head swam.
