Avatar: The Most Expensive Movie of The Year

Avatar directed by James Cameron(where did he disappeared to in the last few years) is the most expensive epic to be released on December 18 2009. The budget for the movie was reported to be $250 million.

Avatar is a story about a reluctant ex-marine who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet. The planet is inhabited by exotic creatures and plant life. As an Avatar, where a human mind is placed in an alien body, the hero played by Sam Worthington (Terminator 4) finds himself caught in a desperate struggle between the alien race and high tech humans. This epic is set to be the movie of the year (with a hefty price tag it should be).

After a long wait since 1997, the director of Titanic, the all time highest grossing film will try to set the bar even higher. James Cameron had hired the best team in CGI, Weta Digital, renowned for its work in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and King Kong. You can expect spectacular environments, fantastic 3D imagery and be prepared to be transported into an alien world that will awe you from beginning to end.

It was reported that James Cameron brought in his old friend Micheal Biehn(Terminator) as a possible hero before the shoot, but the production finally decided not to confuse the audience with the old Aliens movie casts.

Written and directed by James Cameron and starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sigourney Weaver. In theaters December 18.

James Cameron conceived the idea for the movie 14 years ago(now we know what he’s been up to). Below is the movie trailer of the upcoming movie to whet your appetite.

I haven’t seen Avatar yet but I am not tempted to, at all. I saw the trailer at the theaters and I failed to see the allure. I mean hell, of course it looks great but then again, it would be weird if it didn’t. If you can’t watch a movie without the help of 3D, it says a lot about its script. Don’t you think?

this comment may be tak-pakai already, but just to say that last week, there was a client with the name “Avtar” and I emailed to him and addressed him as “Mr Avatar” twice without realising my typo error, and he did not bother to correct me and I also act blur, probably many people have spelled wrongly so he’s numb. You must be thinking I’m so bad, heehee

a beautifully scripted article and very entertaining to read too. i have heard so much about this movie and have yet to see it. after reading this, i am definately tempted enough to do so. also there is the added bonus of sigourney (Alien and Gorillas in the Mist) in it. Shes a superb actess and will surely make it watchable. thanks for sharing. i loved it all.
