I watched Apocalypto a few years ago and found it quite violent. It’s quite unique though – using an original language and unknnown actors.
While the movie looks amazing with great costumes and make up recreating primitive human life and the jungle, the sight of blood and death gets overwhelming. The movie starts off with a wild boar being chased and killed and sets the stage for an unabashed display of people and animals getting killed in every conceivable way – beheaded, speared, drowned, mauled, stoned, etc.
The movie is quite engrossing in it’s storyline though and has been extremely well shot to create a lot of emotions – I ended up cheering for the hero!
