9: Too Dark for The Under 9S
Movie review of “9″ (2009), directed by Shane Acker and featuring the voices of Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau, John C. Reilly, Crispin Glover, Jennifer Connelly, Fred Tatasciore, Elijah Wood, Alan Oppenheimer, Tom Kane and Helen Wilson.
I was extremely impressed by this animated masterpiece, but I was glad I hadn’t brought any young children to see it as the story is dark and dystopian while the action sequences and machines are quite terrifying.
9 tells the story of a group of mechanical dolls who are alone in a devastated world where intelligent machines have decimated the human population.
These funny looking creatures must work together to stay alive and defeat the mechanical beasts which roam the rumble strewn world.
The animation is top quality and the vocal cast is impressive, including Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau, John C. Reilly, Crispin Glover, Jennifer Connelly, Fred Tatasciore, Elijah Wood, Alan Oppenheimer, Tom Kane and Helen Wilson but this film is definitely for older children and young adults rather than tiny tots!

It is good to have you back. The word ‘dystopian’ is new to my lexicon, and I’m always happy to add to it.
