33 Actors From My Generation: Actors Born Between 1980-1990

List and trivia to the younger generation Hollywood: It includes 33 actors and actresses that were born between the years 1980- 1990. Features Jake Gyllenhaal, Hayden Christensen, Gossip Girl cast, Mischa Barton and more.

I was born in 1984. But growing up in the 90s, I knew more about the actors who were born in the 50s,60s and 70s. You know those: Mel Gibson, Kevin Costner, Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves, Brad Pitt, Alec Baldwin, Bill Pullman. Oh sure, there are many older actors I like and know about but you have to keep in mind, some great movies came out in the 90s and well, since that ‘s the era I became addicted to movies, I have a special bond.

That being said, as an entertainment writer and blogger, I sure keep up with my generation. Here are some of the promising actors and actresses, born in between 1980-1990. And yes, the numbers are random. And since there are more than 33, I’ll be writing a sequel as well.

5.       Robert Pattinson – 1986

6.       Kristen Stewart -  1990

Robert Pattinson is of course best known for his role as Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga. And Kristen Stewart plays the love of his life Bella Swan. For a trivia dedicated to these two actors:

7.       Cam Gigandet – 1982

Cam holds two MTV movie awards. Both are for Best Fight- one of those fights is for his fighting sequence with Robert Pattinson in Twilight.

So far I wrote many posts on Twilight. Hang in for the ultimate list post that features them all.

9.       Jake Gyllenhaal – 1980

Well, I paid my respects to Prince of Persia, a.k.a Jake Gyllenhaal in the form a trivia: Jake Gyllenhaal Trivia: 21 Facts About Jake Gyllenhaal

The Day After Tomorrow Review

10.   Gemma Arterton – 1986

Emma plays Jake Gyllenhaal’s involuntary travel partner in Prince of Persia.

Megan Fox

11.   Megan fox- 1986

Men love her. And why shouldn’t they? She is young, hot, claims to be bisexual and doesn’t posing for men’s magazines. She is a walking, talking symbol of everything stereotyped about men. So far, I haven’t heard men or Megan complain. Megan got married recently, though. Sorry, fellas.

Olivia Wilde. Image via http://www.collider.com

Olivia has already landed herself a starring role in an awesome TV series called House. OK- so her part does have some disadvantages because she plays a bisexual (oh, well- acting is tricky) but remember- she is playing in House!!!

House cracks one joke after another about her sexual preferences. In real life, she is married.

But obviously she is also a great choice for Maxim and FHM. She also mentions how big a fan of she is of Megan Fox, in real life.

Now, if these haven’t gained her one hell of a male fan base, I don’t know what will.

13.   Keira Knightley – 1985

Keira Knightley image via http://www.nicewallpapers.info

Of course, I am much more jealous of  Keira Knightley’s career. This young and skinny (albeit pretty) English woman already starred as Elizabeth Bennett in the 2003 version of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.  And her co-stars have included Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Bill Nighy (in one movie that is Love Actually); Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Clive Owen, Ralph Fiennes, Johhny Depp and Orlando Bloom.

14.   Evan Rachel Wood- 1987

Image viwww.thecinemasource.com

Well, I have to say it I think Evan is gorgeous and a fantastic actress but she does have issues. I mean her on and off boyfriend is Marliyn Manson. But hey, every rose has its thorn.

As an actress, my favorite Evan movies The Upside of Anger starring Kevin Costner and Joan Allen and Down in the Valley starring Edward Norton, not to mention Life Before Her Eyes where she stars as Uma Thurman’s youth.

Logan Huffman and Laura Vandervoot in V.

15.   Logan Huffman -1989

16.   Laura Vandervoort – 1984

You can catch Logan in one of the starring roles in the highly successful sci-fi series V, which will be back this fall with its 2nd season. He plays the 17-year-old-son of FBI agent Elizabeth Mitchell. He gets too romantic with one of the Vs, a.k.a. visitors. Laura Vandervoort also stars in V. In fact she is the very alien Logan Huffman’s character gets involved with. V Review

17.   Steven Strait- 1986

I watched one movie of Steven Strait so far and I am impressed. The movie is called City Island and it stars Andy Garcia. It is a lovely and original comedy: City Island Movie Review

18.   Emmy Rossum- 1986

Above: Emmy Rossum and Gerard Butler in The Phantom ogf The Opera. Yes, Gerard Butler is The Phantom. Image via http://www.celebritywonder.com

You might remember Emmy Rossum from The Day After Tomorrow or The Phantom of The Opera. Yes, she was born in 86, already starred in a hit musical and was romanced on-screen by Gerard Butler, who plays the phantom. Way to go, Emmy!

19.   Charlie Cox- 1982

Charlie Cox co-stars in Casanova, the unwilling rival of Casanova. Things strengthen themselves out when Casanova falls for Charlie’s on-screen sister. No, wait, that makes things more complicated. Then we watched Cox in the leading role of Stardust.

20.   Ben Barnes- 1981

Ben Barnes had a small but poignant part in Stardust. He played Charlie Cox’s father’s younger years. No worries, Ben got his spotlight- and a flattering one that is- in the Oscar Wilde adaptation Dorian Gray and starred with fellow Brit Colin Firth.

If you caught an episode of the TV show 7th Heaven (1996-2007), you might remember her as the teenage daughter. But no worries if you don’t. She got involved in more important projects: She played opposite Edward Norton in The Illusionist, became an action chick for Blade and played alongside Colin Firth and Ben Barnes in the English comedy Easy Virtue. 22.   Kristen Bell – 1980

Kristen starred as Veronica Mars in Veronica Mars- a detective TV show. Later she became the Gossip Girl in Gossip Girl. That’s right, the voice that gives every character nightmares belongs to her. She also made Couples Retreat and When in Rome.

23.   Amanda Seyfried- 1985

Amanda co-starred in Veronica Mars. In fact, Veronica owes her plotline to the death of Amanda’s character. Her most fun role to date must be the lead in Mamma Mia where she shared her screen time with masters Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth. Her most daring role is in Chole, where she plays a hooker hired to seduce Liam Neeson’s character- whose wife is played by Julianne Moore.

24.   Jason Dohring- 1982

Jason Dohring played Amanda’s character’s boyfriend in Veronica Mars. His character hates Veronica for about 15 episodes until hatred turns into something else. He later went on to play a 400-year-old vampire in the short-lived Moonlight,. Gossip Girl Cast

From left: Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick and Taylor Momsen.

Gossip Girl is based on the series of novels of the same name. It tells the fabulous and complicated tale of New York high school students.

25.   Ed Westwick – 1987

Ed Westwick plays the notorious Chuch Bass, who has all the bad habits, attitude and money.

26.   Blake lively- 1987

Blake Lively is enjoying fame as Gossip Girl’s most popular girl, Serena. She also acted in the film The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. Her body must have gone into shock from making out with Gossip Girl hunks Penn Badgley (also real life boyfriend) and Chace Crawford to playing Alan Arkin’s lover, Pippa Lee. Now, that’s some serious age difference!

27.   Leighton Meester

Leighton plays Blake Lively’s (Serena) best friend Blair. Leighton gets off on being popular and manipulating anyone and everything. Her on -screen  romantic interest is Chuck Bass.

28.   Penn badgley- 1986

Penn plays Dan, one of the few roles that don’t have much money.

29.   Chace Crawford – 1985

Chace plays Nate, who has managed to at least make out with all of his Gossip Girl co-stars on screen.

30.   Mischa Barton, 1986

31.   Rachel Bilson- 1981

Rache plays Summer, Marissa’s best friend. She also starred in Jumper with Hayden Christensen.

Jumper is a sci-fi/action starring Hayden Christensen, Samuel L. Jackson, Rachel Bilson and Jamie Bell. Hayden plays a “jumper”, a young man who can transport himself anywhere with the right concentration. Hayden is most famous for his role as Anakin Skywalker

32.   Hayden Christensen, 1981

33.   Jamie Bell-1986

English Jamie Bell’s first role- the title role in Billy Elliot- brough him much critical acclaim. He plays a young boy who wants to dance. In Jumper, he plays another Jumper.

That is quite a selection. I must be old as I have heard of very few of these actors. I need to get to the cinema more. Good work.

    Nice review.

I was born in the seventies, and now I feel out of date. Although I will admit, I do enjoy Gossip Girl. Nevertheless, Pamela Anderson and Keanu Reeves are still at the top of the totem pole for me.

  4. Posted July 19, 2010 at 11:59 pm

I think Megan Fox is wishing she never did Jonah Hex. Her salary for movie roles just took a big hit.

  5. Posted July 20, 2010 at 6:08 am

    @Christine: Movies are fun:)

    @Authoress: Thanks.

  6. Posted July 20, 2010 at 6:09 am

@ Heather: Yep, Keanu for me has no competiton:)
@Videomark: You are probably right. I didn’t see Jonah Hex . Is it really that bad?
