Johnny Depp officially committed to starring in Pirates of the Caribbean 5, but it became known after difficult negotiations that began in July last year.
A script for Pirates of the Caribbean 5 was completed before Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides even hit theaters, but producer Jerry Bruckheimer called for rewrites on the fifth film, saying the script wasn’t good enough.
Rob Marshall said that “Terry Rossio is writing it and he’s working incredibly hard and he did a draft and rethought it all and started working on it again. You want to make sure you are asking the audience to come back to see an exciting adventure and it has to reach that caliber, and if not there’s no reason to do it.”
The film probably won’t be released until, say, Summer 2014.
What do you think? Can the world handle another “Pirates”…..Personally, I don’t think they’re that bad, but they should probably stop now.
