Movie Review: Joyful Noise

"Get your Beyonce outta my face!"

That’s the line said by Queen Latifah in all of the trailers for Joyful Noise. This movie is about a choir group that tries to win the “Joyful Noise” amateur competition every year, but always comes in second to the same opposing choir every year. The top stars include Queen Latifah, Dolly Parton, and Keke Palmer. What an interesting trio! Keke Palmer, who plays Olivia, is the daughter of Vi Rose. Vi Rose is a very strong-hearted, strict mother to Olivia and her son, Walter, who has Asperger syndrome. Additionally, the kids’ father, Marcus, joins the army due to the fact that he’s having trouble finding a job at home. His absence makes his family very sad, and causes very big problems between Vi Rose and Olivia. See how this interesting family and even more interesting choir work it out by going to see the movie as soon as possible!

I feel that this movie was directed perfectly! There were no parts of it that seemed out of place. Keke Palmer and Queen Latifah should do more movies together because of their great chemistry. Also, there wasn’t a single part of it I was confused on. Finally, the movie definitely kept me engaged the whole time!

Final Rating: ★★★★☆

Note: If you have chosen to change your beliefs to something other than Christianity or Catholicism, I wouldn’t advise this movie. I’m Atheist (and would appreciate that you didn’t judge me) and it started to be a little bit too much for me.
