This is the ideal film for children aged 6 to 12, but you won’t be bored if you are accompanying them. I went with a friend and we laughed out loud throughout, so there is plenty to keep both young and old entertained.
The star-studded cast bring to life the tale of Susan (Reese Witherspoon) who is hit by a meteorite on her wedding day, turning her into Ginormica, a giant with superhuman strength. She is captured by a secret government agency and locked away in a military compound to live out the rest of her days without any further contact with the outside world, including her family and beloved finance, Derek (Paul Rudd). She is marshaled by General WR Monger (Keifer Sutherland), who takes a very tough love approach to his charges: The Missing Link, a walking, talking, fish-ape-man thing (Will Arnett), B.O.B., a gelatinous blob with no brain (though this doesn’t seem to impair his ability to function too much!) played by Seth Rogan, a mad scientist bug, Dr Cockroach (Hugh Laurie) and a giant grub known as Insectasauraus.
This motley crew of hidden freaks are given their chance to shine when Earth comes under attack by the evil alien Gallaxhar (Rainn Wilson) and the government must turn to them for help to defeat him.
This is a fantastic family film with light breezy comedy and a few great life lessons for the kids to take home. The 3D effects are pretty amazing too, as you’ll see meteors hurtling towards you, or find yourself flying through the sky. Very small children might find the film a little bombastic and scary, but any child over 5 or 6 will love it.

Cool. Thanks for publishing – I want to bring my boys, but I wasn’t sure of how it would be. I do not want them to become scared and I do not want to be bored.
