Superfilms: The Hits and Misses of Marvel Movies
Since the new millennium Marvel Films have released a onslaught of superhero movies based on there favourite comic book characters. Some have been notably better than others.
Read on for a detailed break down of which vigilante looks the best on the big screen.
Iron Man

Marvel’s latest release is Iron Man. This movie was excellent, a must see for anyone who likes action films. Infamous producer Jon Favreau was on top of his game. The script and action scenes were second to none and the story behind Iron man was great as well. He is seen in a new light then most of the comic books as a regular man who has built himself a powerful suit and Robert Downey nails the part. The worst part of the movie was the association it had to the awful song Iron man that played throughout the film. All in all this was one of the top, if not the best, marvel films to date and we can only hope that they get better from here! 9.5/10
Cat Woman

Halle Berry in a tight leather catsuit. Now that the positive aspects are out of the way we can move on to why this movie sucked. Halle Berry can’t really act all that good, remember her stellar performance in Die another day(sarcasm). The story line was bad … a lot. It involved some girl who liked cats, doing acrobatic moves around the city and hitting the occasional bad guy. It’s not her fault though, nor is it the fault of director Pitof. Marvel must of still been ballooning on there recent success’s to think that Cat women would make a decent cinema presentation. If you take a character that is plagued with a awful comic book series and change it into a movie, chances are that it wont be all that great. 2/10
Daredevil

Would have been a much better movie without Ben Affleck but I guess it wasn’t terrible anyway. Daredevil is the story of a blind man who happens to get superpowers when he puts on his red costume and plays with a cane. Spiderman’s best friend from the cartoon series goes solo and comes up short. This movie was in desperate need for more action even though the story line wasn’t the worst. It was an “in your face” style of plot with not much thinking behind it. It wasn’t the worse but I wish it had more, that’s my conclusion. 6/10
X-Men Trilogy

Personally I loved these movies. The amazing story line, the good against evil fighting, over 40 different cool powers and all without the humans knowing. This trilogy was a masterpiece in my eyes. The last movie even has the good and the bad joining forces to fight off the possible forced extinction of all mutants. Each movie ended with a little cliff hanger making you drool till the next release. I recommend buying the whole trilogy and watching it morning to night with a nice bowl of corn chips. However don’t be telling any of the local bullies about this particular Saturday night. Great movies, they all must be watched. 9/10
Hulk

Meh, guy gets angry and breaks stuff. 4/10
Spider-Man Trilogy

The spider-man trilogy was hot and cold for me. I loved the first movie, the excellent action made it one of the better action films or the year. The second movie wasn’t as good but the game made up for it. The third movie could of and should have been a lot better. The build up to it created a solid feeling of being let down by the film makers who just didn’t put enough time into it. The Spider-Man series left out a lot of interesting characters who could of played a potentially exciting role in the movies. When they introduced the Sandman to the third movie rather then … say the kingpin or Jack o lantern I was disappointed. The acting also went downhill. The cast that delivered superb performances all around in the first movie seemed to be lacking some oomph the second and third times around. There was also a vicious side plot involving parkers family that created boredom among many viewers. I recommend watching this trilogy spread out over a month rather then all in one day. To much spider man in one day would probably ruin it for you. 7/10
