Peter Jackson Talks Possible 3RD Hobbit Movie!

Peter Jackson Spills The Beans To Fan About A "In-Development" Third Hobbit Picture!

During Comic-Con a few weeks ago, Warner Bros. Studio reps were very quick to dispel rumors that director Peter Jacksonwanted to make a third movie after his upcoming two films, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again, starting this November. Today we have video from the Comic-Con floor, where Peter Jacksonconfirms that talks are ongoing with Warner Bros. to shoot additional footage for a proposed third installment. Here’s what Peter had to say, adding that he didn’t know if extra footage will be used for extended editions, or a trilogy-making third Hobbit movie . . .

Yesterday, MovieWeb reported that the famed filmmaker and Warner Bros. Studio are currently in “accelerated talks” to actually make a third movie happen, sometime next summer. Along with the rights to J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel, the filmmakers acquired rights to the author’s multiple appendices and unpublished notes that greatly expand apon this Middle Earth universe even more.

It’s always very enjoyable to see Peter Jackson this excited and exuberant about making a big project, let alone another new “Tolkien / Ring” Film. So only time will tell how this ultimately shapes up to either an extended cut of the Hobbit films or a third movie altogether.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey comes to theaters December 14th, 2012 and stars Elijah Wood, Billy Connolly, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Luke Evans, Hugo Weaving, Martin Freeman, Evangeline Lilly. The film is directed by Peter Jackson.

The Hobbit: There and Back Again comes to theaters December 13th, 2013 and stars Ron Perlman, Hugo Weaving, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Doug Jones, Kiran Shah, Billy Connolly
