The Amazing Spider-Man is the 2012 reboot of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man One, Two, and Three. Peter Parker’s parents leave him with his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Peter Park sneaks into OsCorp to meet Dr. Curt Connors, a man who knew his father. He is bitten by a radioactive spider and receives superpowers.
Loved this movie and I enjoyed Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man Trilogy. This movie is excellent and takes everything Sam Raimi did and made it better. The writing is definitely better; Spider-Man 1 is definitely campy and not nearly as funny. The character writing for this movie is much better and I enjoyed the writing for it.
The visual effects are stunning, everything looks great. The camera work is stunning and when Peter is swinging through the city, it looks amazing. It made my mom dizzy. The CGI effects are excellent and put the 2002 movie to shame in that department, and the fight scenes are stunning. All the acrobatics look really good and Spider-Man fights like he does in the comics with a lot of acrobatics and clever use of his powers.
The actors are excellent and well cast. Andrew Garfield is terrific as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. He’s definitely tops Tobey McGuire in many aspects of playing Peter Park and Spider-Man. Emma Stone was excellent as Gwen Stacy and her character is much better than Mary Jane in the first trilogy. Rhys Ifans is good as Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard; he’s not as hammy as Wilem Defoe’s Harry Osborn from the first movie, which is nice. Denis Leary is good as Captain George Stacy. Martin Sheen gives a different interpretation as Ben Parker, but I liked it. Sally Field is good and she plays her role very well as May Parker.
James Horner’s musical score is amazing, it’s not a pun. It sounds great and I really enjoyed it. I loved the music a lot. It also had some great songs too.
This movie is rated PG-13 and has comic book style violence. It also has some profanity. It’s a movie that almost anyone can watch, but maybe you should leave the little kids at home.
I highly recommend this movie. If you enjoy superhero movies you should definitely see this one in theaters. I enjoyed the movie a lot and I will definitely buy this movie when it comes out on DVD and I say that you’ll enjoy it if you enjoyed the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy. It’s well worth your time and money to see it, if you’re just curious, rent it, but see it while It’s in theaters.
