How Ryan O’neal Partner to Late Farrah Fawcett Can Leave The Past and Move on

Ryan O’Neal, actor and the previous partner to the late Farrah Fawcett, was a movie and television icon in his early years. You may remember him, or have seen him in his academy nominated role in Love Story. Sadly, he has been diagnosed with prostrate cancer. Here’s how Ryan O’Neal can move on, embrace the positives, and shun the negatives in his life.

Young Ryan O’Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett

It’s almost impossible to picture Ryan O’Neal without Farrah Fawcett by his side.  Farrah Fawcett, unfortunately succumbed to anal cancer in 2009.  However, after seeing several television interviews featuring Ryan O’Neal,  he seems to talk about her as if she is close by — which her spirit may be.

Ryan O’Neal recently had his memoir “Both of Us”  published, where he writes about his life with Farrah Fawcett, including the tumultous relationship he had with her and well as his children.  During his television interviews, he presented himself in a sad limelight, and often admitted that he failed as a father due to how his children, now adults, turned out.  He appears to have made amends with his children, or close to doing so, including his Oscar winning daughter, Tatem O’Neal.

What stood out, in my opinion, is his past regrets of how volatile his relationship was with Farrah O’Neal up to about two years before she passed away.  During this time, he said he was closer to her than ever, even crawling up and lying down in the hospital  bed with her during her final hours.

What also struck me was how he kept looking down at the floor a lot when talking, as if in defeat of something that he tried to accomplish but failed.

Was his disappointment over Farrah Fawcett not marrying him after he spent 18 years asking her to do so? Did he regret the many arguments and negative discord that defined his relationship with Farrah Fawcett?

Ryan O’Neal is facing stage 2 prostrate cancer.

Or was it his belief that he thinks that he was not a good father to his children?  Or were there other reasons?

Noone really knows the deep regrets, and insecurities that Ryan O’Neal may hover, as these emotions and feeling are highly and deeply personal.  However, Ryan O’Neal can rest assured that whatever he has gone through or will be going through is well worth the lessons learned and the battle. His regrets are in the past, and should stay there.  His first step should be to remember the fond memories of his past, and not dwell on the negatives.  Hopefully after writing his most recent book about his life, he will be able to move on.

There is one thing that he should remember regarding his past relationship with Farrah Fawcett.  When he disclosed to her that he was fighting leukemia — a disease that he conquered — Farrah Fawcett told Ryan O’Neal back then that they would both fight the disease, together.  In other words, he was not alone.

Farrah Fawcett may not be with Ryan O’Neal  as he battles prostrate cancer, but he can rest assured that her spirit is with him, close by, edging him on and encouraging him that he can overcome this dreaded disease just as he did with leukemia.
