Deconstruction
In the picture there is a man with a shield, like he was defending from arrows. He seems to be hungry for battle and has a lot of bloodlust. The rain and lightning makes the battlefield look like a dangerous and despairish place. He shows no fear no matter what the background is like. He is holding a shield with little armour which tells us this in the ancient age, and that he is in a battle and not in a stormy place.
Symbolic Codes
Colour
The main colour in this is Grey, which makes everything look sand and gives an atmosphere of despair and absolutely no hope. The other colour, red is meant to symbolise battle and bloodshed.
Objects
In the photo the man is holding a shield which tells that he is in a battle. He wears very little, just a cloak, which tells us that he has put speed and flexibility over wearing armour. He wears a trinket which is probably a gift from his close people, which means he still cares what happens back home and not all about battle.
Setting
The setting is a very rainy and stormy place. The setting looks like a mean place and it is very gray. This creates an atmosphere of despair, danger, sadness and no hope. The lighting symbolises death and danger. The rain symbolises an unfriendly environment. The sky is also grey which makes it look like there is something unusual going on.
Body Language
His mouth is open out wide showing that he is shouting. His eyebrows are clenched together and his eyes are sharp showing that he is angry. The man in the picture is very angry and aggressive. He shows a very aggressive face and it makes him look blood lustful. He is leaning to one side which looks like he is moving to the right very quickly, like he was defending from something or charging.
Clothing
He is wearing very little which shows that he has put speed and flexibility over his defence and armour. His trinket shows that he will always remember his cared for even though he is at battle. Or the trinket could be a good luck charm which tells us that the person is a religious person or a superstitious person.
Technical Codes
Camera Angle
In this picture the angle of the camera is low, even if very little. The low camera angle obviously makes the man look big and powerful.
Lens Choice
The lens choice in this picture is a medium one that allows the person to see only the top half of the body and the shield. It also does not let us see the left arm with the sword in it. This makes us focus on the fact that the person is more on the defensive than the offensive. It also makes us focus on the face rather than the legs.
Framing
The framing in this picture makes us focus on the man, obviously and draws attention away from the shield.
Shutter Speeds
The shutter speed is very fast in this photo and makes him look like he is standing in one place. This therefore makes him look like on the defensive than on the offensive.
Dep1th of Field
The background is sort of burred and looks distant and so makes us focus on the character rather than the background.
Lighting/Exposure
Most of the lighting has been focused on the higher half of the man and the shield rather than the background. The lighting makes us focus on him and his shield. The lighting makes us focus on the face than anything else.
Juxtaposition
This is not necessary as the image has been computer generated, and when something has been computer generated you can place any thing on it.
Written Codes
There is little written code as there is little text in this poster. The only written code would be the 300. It is in the colour red and looks like it has been written in blood so we assume that this movie is very gory and has lots of violence. The number 300 also links back to the time of Ancient Greece where the 300 Spartans defended against the Persians.

thank you 4 this. it helped me with my deconstruction of a film poster task in media studies
